Happy New Year Pixie Chicks!
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays with your loved ones. I certainly had a fine time. They were quiet and enjoyable—just what my family needed to wrap up last year. Now it’s time to shift gears. Do you have your resolutions? Are you keeping them so far?! I, like some of you, have resolutions I intend to keep this year and one of them happens to be to get fit and healthy.

I’ve recently been on a cranberry kick. Thanksgiving brought my mom’s savory traditional meal with all of the fixings and of course the main event, turkey; and all the leftover turkey sandwiches my little heart desired. The signature and classic combination for me is always turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I love everything else like the green beans, carrots, butternut squash, etc., but that classic combination is what I look forward to the most. There are always two types of cranberry sauce; the jellied and the whole berries.
In the Hodgkins household, we care about food. My dad is a culinary school graduate. My parents used to own an ice cream shop. My boyfriend knows that I love a good cookbook and gives me new cookbooks for each birthday and Christmas gift. Even my sister said she was won over by her partner because of his fantastic meatball recipe.
When it comes to holidays, we pull out all the stops with our family dishes. It’s the one time of year where we can combine tradition and celebration through our culinary masterpieces. Is it the 4th of July? My dad is out on the smoker making his pulled pork barbecue and mom is putting together the blueberry-lemon pie. How about Christmas Eve? We have the feast of the seven fishes ready to go on the dinner table. Is Super Bowl Sunday even considered a holiday? Definitely in our house, complete with steak tip sandwiches and fresh cut fries. ![]() I stumbled upon Yoga With Adriene on Youtube, one Friday night after feeling quite bored and frustrated. My boyfriend was working and my mom and I were having a tiff. For months my body, brain, and spirit felt completely out of whack. I’m not sure how the boredom and frustration inspired my search for a yoga video but, looking back it felt like divine guidance. |
