Hey Pixie Chicks,
I’m not sure if you’re as excited about this sequel as me and my friends are! In case you didn’t already know, MAMMA MIA 2: HERE WE GO AGAIN opens this week...will I be there to see it this weekend? You bet your Dancing Queen Bottom!
That’s all the fans joining in the line for tickets!
Brief summary: Sophia, lives in Greece and is getting married...but she doesn’t know who her dad is. She found her mom’s diary and determined it could be one of three men.
She invited all the men to her wedding…
Her MOM, DONNA-- AKA Meryl-Freaking-Streep doesn’t know why all her past lovers show up to the island hotel that she runs…mayhem ensues throw in ABBA songs every seven minutes and it’s the best musical in years!
To my friends and I, MAMMA MIA is a way of life.
I remember going to the movies with my friends to see the first film. We had just graduated high school and we were about to leave for college. We all listened to ABBA before, so we sang along, and later memorized the dances and recreated them. It was such a special time for us.
For months we’d send texts with song lyrics and quotes, funny still pictures from the movie and constantly tag each other on all things MAMMA MIA on Facebook.
How many times did I text a friend, “Does your Mother Know!?”
Anytime we were out as a group clubbing if we were able to request a song or if luck would have it an ABBA song would come on, we’d freak out!
Mamma Mia was about exploring who you are as person. Dancing like noone is watching, breaking out into song when the emotions take you and to always remember the best of friends always have your back.
I’m getting kinda emotional….give me a second...
For me, the breakdown of Mamma Mia is two main principles... Love and friendship. Finding love after years of loss. Never giving up on love or friendship...finding out that family can be blood or the people you choose to surround yourself with.
I have no idea what to expect from this second film. I know the songs will be entertaining it will have light moments and deep moments of substance. I do know that I will dearly miss the experience of seeing it with my best friends.
Although we haven't been all together in years, I love them all and Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again will always be one of the many links of our love, friendship and family that we share.
