Happy New Year Pixie Chicks!
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays with your loved ones. I certainly had a fine time. They were quiet and enjoyable—just what my family needed to wrap up last year.
Now it’s time to shift gears. Do you have your resolutions? Are you keeping them so far?!
I, like some of you, have resolutions I intend to keep this year and one of them happens to be to get fit and healthy.
It’s probably the most common, a cliché, and probably the one that doesn’t get fulfilled.
But I intend to make my health and wellbeing a priority this year. After 2016, I learned first-hand how important that aspect of life is… if you don’t have your health you don’t have a full life.
I’m going to confess something—I’m a junk food junkie! Candy—chocolate, chips…well actually those are my only downfalls. Chips and Chocolate! I crave them, I feel the dire need for that salty-sweet combination. I remember a few years ago I went to a naturopathic doctor and she told me to quit cold turkey—I did for about 5 days. I was so moody, I had headaches, and I craved it with a vengeance. I cracked under the PMS pressure.
Then last year, how could one forget the 3 doughnut day? (Major stress day)
I would like to think that I have a good relationship with food…I mean I love brussel sprouts and beets. I like to eat salads and I only drink almond milk.
I enjoy exercise after the fact—but sometimes to get me to do it is a struggle…but in the end I’m always so glad that I worked out.
But now I really want it! I really want to eat healthier (honestly it’s the snacking that’s my problem) and make exercise a fun habit…make it an obvious routine like brushing your teeth…you wouldn’t leave the house without doing that …I don’t want to end my day without doing a form of exercise.
I think another factor in my lack of enthusiasm about health is that my meals are kinda boring. I enjoy cooking and my mom does as well (and now most of the cooking). Every so often she will surprise me and have a super experimental dinner but most of the time it’s the same old bland flavors.
I want something new and exciting! Last year we started to add recipes to the site and I intend to keep it up. And I’d absolutely love to hear your go to recipes and health/wellness/fitness tips! Really—please—I need to hear from you—I want this resolution to actually happen and these health posts will keep me motivated!
If you send me recipes or your workout tips or wellness trick it will only help me and the rest of the Pixie Chick community!
I’ve been doing some research and I’m torn between Yoga with Adriene and Blogilates with Cassey Ho, (as I’m writing this—I’m leaning toward the Blogilates-Pilates). Maybe I will do a back to back month challenge! Oooh that would be fun… (or “fun”…no I’m on a health kick!!!)
So to summarize, I’m going to make my health and wellness a priority this month and I want to hear from you—are you going on a wellness journey as well?
This is not the only resolution I have—more to come later in the month. I found something from my teenage years that made me smile and inspired for a blog post so stay tuned!
I truly hope to hear from you and that 2017 is your/our/my best year yet!
Happy New Year!!
